One company a week, worked through in the open.

Each week Moatrics takes one US-listed company off the watchlist and runs the whole method on it — the four questions, the three valuation models, the four thresholds. On Wednesday morning that week's work goes out as one letter, written so you can follow the reasoning and then run it yourself on something you actually hold.

Get it on Wednesdays

What is in each letter

The same five blocks every week, so you know where to look and it reads in five minutes.

  1. One idea

A single piece of the method in plain language — why payback time counts free cash flow instead of net income, or what a ten-year average return on invested capital is actually telling you. Roughly a hundred words, and no arithmetic you could not do on paper.

  2. How we would look at one company

The week's company, walked through the four questions: can you understand the business, will the advantage still be there in ten years, has management compounded the capital it was given, and is the price low enough to leave you room to be wrong. This is a demonstration of how to analyse a company — not a recommendation to buy or sell it.

  3. What long-horizon investors filed

One or two notable changes from last quarter's 13F filings, and what makes them worth reading into. Filings are already a quarter old when they become public, so they are research leads — never a portfolio to copy.

  4. What changed here

Anything new in the product or the method library, in two or three lines. Skippable by design.

  5. One question

A question for you, and a reply address that reaches a person rather than a form. The answers are what decides what gets built next.

What happens to your address

You confirm by clicking a link in a first email, so nobody can sign you up but you. The address is used for this letter and nothing else: never sold, never rented, never handed to an advertiser. Every send carries a one-click unsubscribe — no exit survey, no offer to stay — and unsubscribed addresses are deleted in our regular clean-up.

Rather read something right now?

This week's company is already written up on the site, and the method library covers the same ground at length.

Coverage is US-listed stocks. Moatrics is an educational research platform and does not provide investment advice. The company covered each week is a teaching example, chosen for what it shows about the method rather than as a suggestion to buy or sell it. Three models agreeing means a business is worth the time it takes to read its filings — nothing more. Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. Always do your own research.

Stop guessing. Know what it's worth.

Your quality shortlist is waiting.
